Welcome to Protect NL.

God Guard Thee
Newfoundland

The time is now. Stand up, take action, and demand to be heard.

Rally for the Rock is an island-wide rally to raise awareness about the reckless renewable projects being proposed, specifically the wind energy/hydrogen ammonia plants.

Our team will be traveling coast to coast to host information rallies and are partnering with people boots on the ground. We need to keep the conversation going and talk to as many people as we can to let them know what’s happening and what they can do to stop it. We can win back our island but we need more people.

A message from the ProtectNL Coordinator

When Protect NL was first established, our main focus was on the proposed wind turbines and hydrogen ammonia plants. However, there are many other issues in our province that are causing us great concern. From mining to salmon farms harming our wild salmon stocks, to the deforestation plan and the ongoing cuts to services, and government constant push for regionalization, there is a lot to worry about. Let’s not forget about the sorry state of our healthcare system and the constant struggles faced by our fishery.

The government is pushing forward with plans for our island that just aren’t sustainable. Newfoundland Labrador is a province full of resources, and we should all be thriving. But instead, we have a history of being taken advantage of by big corporations and the federal government. Unfortunately, our own provincial government isn’t doing much to protect us either.

The proposed wind energy deals ask for too much sacrifice for too little reward. There are no real answers to our questions, and it seems like these deals are just set up to line the pockets of big businesses while we continue to struggle. Any projects coming to our island need to be sustainable, transparent, and approved by the people, with community benefits agreements in place. Many think that residents will now have access to clean electricity and are unaware these projects are focused on creating hydrogen to ship to Germany.

It’s becoming clear that things will only improve in Newfoundland Labrador when we come together and demand better. We deserve better, and it’s time to stand up and make our voices heard. Let’s demand the change we deserve.

It is crucial for us, as engaged citizens, to demand transparency and inclusion in the decision-making process. Our leaders must recognize the significance of seeking public input before making substantial decisions that shape our collective future. By fostering a culture of open dialogue and collaboration, we can ensure that our voices are heard and that the decisions made truly reflect the will and best interests of the people.

If there were ever a time for the people to speak up to protect this beautiful province, and the people who live here, it is now.
